Renewing Old Mindsets

Our mind can be set wrongly if we are not knowledgeable about the things of God. Just like when you go to the doctor with a broken bone. You need the bone set correctly for it to heal and operate correctly. Many are walking around on earth today with wrong conceptions as to who God is and how He loves them. Their minds are “set” on the deception of the enemy, and the principals of the world. This show and corresponding article will show you what false mindsets are, and how to correct them. May the words you read sink down deep into your spirit, mind and soul and cause you to grow stronger in your faith in Jesus Christ for your life.
My Own Old Mindsets
God has been on a mission in my life to show me the wrong mindsets that have been passed down to me from many generations. If we’re talking of generational curses, let’s just say, THE CURSE STOPS HERE. I am determined, with God’s help, to break the chains of false mindsets that do not adhere to the words and promises of God. I want all God has to offer and I’m not settling for anything less.
Examples of My Own False Mindsets
1. I thought I wasn’t good enough for college.
2. I thought I was unlovable because my step-father was abusive.
3. I thought I could never follow the commands of God in the Bible.
4. I thought I had to be depressed for the rest of my life.
5. I thought I had to be broke and poor like my family was.
Lies of the Enemy
We all live under various deceptions, lies that we believe without proof, but that eventually come true due to our expectations. We have a real enemy against us, Satan, the “father of lies.” Satan wishes that all would serve and follow him, and disregard God. If you take a hard look at the culture in which we live, you will see signs of the spiritual battle between good and evil taking place within us all.
He [the devil] was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the father of lies (John 8:44).

What is a Mindset?
Your mindset is your present state of mind; the paradigm from which you perceive the world. Your present mindset is the basis from which your daily decisions are made.
Your present mode of thinking, or Mindset is set by the core beliefs you have about the meaning of life. This foundational belief extends to effect how you view your purpose on earth, your personal value as a human being, and your rights to fulfillment, and your expectations for your future.
What Is the Impact of Your Mindset?
Your mindset affects everything in your life, from your primary focus, to your emotions, your fears, your assumptions, your assertions, your actions, your beliefs, your goals and your daily activities.
Proper thinking keeps you healthy. The right thoughts have power to
cause you to experience joy, peace, well-being, happiness, comfort, fullness, health, wholeness and a list of other positive feelings. Contrarily, a malaligned point of view can be the hidden cause of a number of maladies, from depression, to failure, to a host of physical illnesses.
It makes sense, then, to be at the very least aware of our central mindsets that drive most everything that pertains to us. We should be well aware of what we believe, and how what we believe either hinders or helps us.
The mindset of a person should be squared and in check. So many people grab any thought which crosses their path. This is not wise, as we are emotional creatures with a gillion thoughts coming our way, some of which are beneficial, others which serve to drag us down.
The first step needed when “renewing your mind” is to know what your beliefs are about life. What do you hold dear.
Trouble is, if your beliefs are in flux–one day you believe God is the center of the universe, and the next you are convinced that drowning your sorrows booze is the answer–your life will also be in flux. You will have no firm foundation on which to stand.
Everyone is on a quest to sooth themselves; to sooth the nagging in their hearts, the ills of the past lurking in the subconscious, the hidden insecurities, fears and prejudices that make up the consistent void and emptiness of the unbearable ache.
What is the “Mindset” of the World?
The mindset of the world says that we are all our own Gods, that we don’t need God in our daily lives. That the Bible is a good book, but not something to be followed. That it is better to party and forget God, because
Core Beliefs of the World
1. God is not real.
2. God has forgotten you.
3. God does not care.
4. God is far away and uninvolved.
5. God dealt us a raw hand.
6. There is no truth.
7. Preachers are money grubbers.
8. God is not in control.
9. Doing things God’s way is not the best way.
10. If I don’t take care of me, no one will.
11. When you die, you die.
12. Praying is useless.
13. Your past dictates your future.
14. All good-looking men are gay.
15. All rich men cheat on their wives.
16. All the good ones are taken.
17. If you’re still single at 30, you’re an old maid.
18. All men are ______(jerks, liars, shallow, after one thing, etc…)
Cliches of World Mindsets
1. You are lacking (money, relationships, emotional wellness)
2. TGIF
3. Murphy’s Law – Whatever bad CAN happen WILL happen.
4. “Life sucks, then you die.”
5. “If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
6. “Just my luck”
7. “Old Maid”
8. “Handicapped”
9. “Too Old”
10. Jinxed
11. “Knock on Wood”
12. “Don’t push your luck”
13. “If I don’t take care of me, no one will.”
14. “It’s just one of those days.”
15. “That’s just the way it goes.”
16. “That’s life.”
17. “Doesn’t stand a prayer.”
18. “Old ball and chain.”
19. “Hope springs eternal.”
Mindsets of the world are filled with conception of LACK. There is not enough, so I must fight for it or compete. God’s promises, however, are filled with ABUNDANCE. When we are obedient servants of God are blessed “overly and exceedingly abundantly above all they could ever ask or think.”
Mindset of God
The mindset of God must be taken BY FAITH. Faith in His word and His promises, for we “walk by faith and not by site.” (2 Cor. 5:7). Here are more of God’s promises found in scripture. These are the things on which we must set our minds.
1. You are loved more than you can imagine. ~ Isaiah 54:10
2. God has a plan for your life. ~ Jeremiah 29:11
3. When you obey God, you are blessed and not cursed. ~ Deuteronomy
4. If God is on your side, no one can be against you. ~ Romans 8:31
5. God is your refuge and helper when in trouble ~ Psalm 46:1
6. He has called you by name. ~ Isaiah 43:1
7. Believers in Christ have eternal life. ~ John 6:47
8. You are a child of God.
9. You are the apple of His eye. ~ Psalm 17:8
10. God is watching over you. ~ Psalm 32:8
11. God’s peace will guard your heart. ~ Philipians 4:7
12. When His children pray, He hears. ~ 1 John 5:14
13. When we go through trouble, He is with us. Harm will not befall us. Isaiah 43:1,2
14. When we come to Christ, we are made new. ~ 2 Corinthians 5:7
15. If we trust God, He will make our way straight. ~ Proverbs 3:5,6
How to Renew Old Mindsets
1. Accept Jesus as your Savior
2. Repent of Sin
3. Fix your eyes on Jesus
4. Read the Word of God
5. Surround Yourself with God’s People
6. Spend Time in Prayer
7. Praise & Worship
8. Know Your Enemy
9. Manage Your Thoughts, Words & Deeds
10. Don’t look back.
